The proof-of-stake chain for
payments & energy infrastructure
Worrell is a sovereign blockchain built on the Cosmos SDK. Fast, low-fee payments and open infrastructure for the energy economy — secured by staking and governed on-chain.
Purpose-built, not general-purpose
A focused chain with sound token economics and battle-tested infrastructure.
Payments first
Low, predictable fees (0.025 uworrell minimum gas price) and fast finality make Worrell suitable for everyday value transfer.
Energy infrastructure
Designed as settlement and coordination infrastructure for energy markets and machine-to-machine payments.
Proven security
Built on the Cosmos SDK and CometBFT — the stack behind dozens of production networks — with delegated proof-of-stake security.
On-chain governance
Parameter changes, upgrades and community-pool spending are decided by token holders — including expedited proposals for urgent matters.
IBC-ready
The Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol ships in the chain and will be enabled by governance once the network is stable.
Open source
Apache 2.0 licensed. The node, network configuration and documentation are developed in the open on GitHub.
1,000,000,000 WORRELL. 80% for the community.
Fixed genesis allocation with founder tokens locked under a 4-year continuous vesting schedule (1-year cliff). Community funds are held in multisig accounts until on-chain governance takes over.

The testnet is live
worrell-testnet-1 is running and open to node operators. Sync a node, request funds from the faucet and start validating.

Request test funds for any worrell address (rate-limited to once per hour per address):
# request test tokens
curl -X POST http://164.68.98.186:4500 \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \

Join the validator set
Up to 100 validators secure Worrell. Joining the testnet takes three steps — the full guide covers hardware, monitoring and slashing in detail.
Build the node
Install Go 1.22+, clone worrellchain/worrell and run make install to get the worrelld binary.
Sync the testnet
Initialize your node, download the official genesis, set the published peer and start syncing. Verify the genesis checksum before starting.
Create your validator
Request funds from the faucet and submit a create-validator transaction. Commission floor is 5% network-wide.
| Protocol parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Max validators | 100 |
| Unbonding period | 21 days (mainnet) · 1 hour (testnet) |
| Minimum commission | 5% |
| Downtime slashing | 0.01% + 12h jail (mainnet) |
| Double-sign slashing | 5% + permanent tombstone |
| Signed-blocks window | 10,000 blocks · 5% minimum |
Decided by the network
Any holder can submit proposals: parameter changes, software upgrades, community-pool spending or signaling votes. Expedited proposals handle urgent matters with a higher threshold.
| Parameter | Standard | Expedited |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum deposit | 1,500 WORRELL | 7,500 WORRELL |
| Voting period (mainnet) | 5 days | 24 hours |
| Quorum | 33.4% | 33.4% |
| Pass threshold | 50% | 66.7% |
| Veto threshold | 33.4% | 33.4% |
Progressive decentralization
Public testnet
Network live, faucet open, validator set opening up. Stabilize and battle-test the chain.
Growing the set
Onboard external validators, community airdrop, enable IBC transfers via governance.
Community control
Treasury management moves to on-chain governance as the validator set expands.
Mainnet
Genesis ceremony with external validators and a fully decentralized network.
